oh what fleeting moments I should capture, oh what memories I should still possess

crab claws as a metaphor for life

I spent last weekend at the river and had the opportunity to photograph the crabs that my dad let go (guess what was for dinner?). What I see is the claw of a female crab, ready for action. What I immediately thought when I looked through the viewfinder was, “the teeth on that claw look just like my dog’s teeth”.

are more susceptible to definition

  1. Your photo epitomizes how I felt the other day. Honest.
I like the quote. I think we sometimes focus more on our differences and forget our similarities. I once read a science book that said every single person alive on earth today can trace their ancestry all the way back in time to the same female. Isn’t that mind blowing? We all have shared DNA. That certainly puts things in perspective.

    • That is pretty amazing. You remind me of our discussion on the other post about being kind to people who aren’t necesarily kind to us. If we can focus on our similarities, maybe it would be easier to forgive or accept each other. We all have frail bits, funny bits, broken bits, heroic bits… We are made from the same thread, woven on the same loom, just dyed different colors and following different patterns.
